4026-24: Delirium in the Hospitalized Elderly Delirious Patient: Best Practices and Prevention

Delirium, a potentially life-threatening medical condition and distinguished from dementia, may be under-recognized with the potential to significantly increase mortality and healthcare cost-burdens among the frail hospitalized elderly. Measurement tools for identification, pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches, and nurse-centric strategies for prevention will be presented with implications for performance improvements.
