APNA Transitions in Practice Certificate Program
The APNA Transitions in Practice (ATP) Certificate program covers the knowledge and skills foundational to psychiatric-mental health (PMH) nursing practice. ATP is a five-module online program that focuses on the most up-to-date best practices and evidence-based nursing knowledge, it will optimize success in psychiatric-mental health nursing practice and improve healthcare outcomes for persons with mental health disorders.
This course is self-paced with interactive activities and resources as learners progress through the program.
Registrants have 90 days from date of registration to complete the content and earn nursing continuing professional development contact hours.

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:
- Describe one foundational evidence-based strategy for providing safe and effective nursing care that will improve person-centered planning for persons with psychiatric-mental health disorders.
- Identify one best practice approach to optimize your success in psychiatric-mental health nursing.
Course Outcome:
- 65% of participants will report an intent to change practice as a result of this course.

Nursing Continuing Professional Development:
15.25 contact hours. *To successfully complete the program, participants must: Complete the pre-test, view the program in its entirety (foreword, modules 1-5), earn a passing score of at least 80% on the post-test, and complete the end-of-module and overall evaluations. Participants will have 5 tries to correctly answer the questions on the post-test. Credit cannot be earned unless all components of the program are completed. Partial credit will not be awarded.
The American Psychiatric Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

APNA offers ATP participants the ability to retake the program at a specially discounted rate if it is not completed within the prescribed timeframe of 90 days. The cost of the retake program is $150.00. To qualify for this discount, application and payment must be made to APNA within six months of expiration of the initial registration. The retake may require the applicant to restart the program and previous work may not count toward completion. Only one retake will be allowed.
