1036-17:  Empowering Relationships: Taking Care of Ourselves and Others Mindful Self-Compassion in Practice

Self-Compassion, practice, can strengthen clinician resilience when working with the suffering of patients and challenges in the workplace to combat empathetic distress. This workshop will introduce the principles of mindful self-compassion and practice skills sourced from traditional contemplative practices and contemporary psychology and scientific research.

Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Understand the principles, mechanisms, and neuroscience of mindful self-compassion.
  2. Identify three ways to integrate self-compassion skills in daily clinical practice.
  3. Describe self-compassion approaches to alleviate empathetic distress.

Continuing Nursing Education:
1.5 contact hours.  * In order to receive contact hours, you must: Listen to presentation, complete an evaluation, and earn a passing score on the post-test before the expiration date.
