1026-17: Integrating Care:  An Interdisciplinary Approach to Address Spiritual Needs

Participants will gain new skills for assessing spirituality and providing integrated wholistic care. A nurse/chaplain team will offer theory, evidence, assessment methods, and vignettes. Participants will practice new skills through in-session exercises so that they can return home ready to integrate them into their nursing practice.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Define spiritual distress by listing three symptoms of spiritual struggle as seen on inpatient units.
  2. Conduct a nursing spiritual assessment.
  3. Collaborate with patient to write chaplaincy referral that will prepare both chaplain and patient to use the consultation effectively.

Continuing Nursing Education:
