This session will demonstrate the effective use of psychotherapy, regardless of the fixed constraints of a practice setting. Using one clinical case scenario, this session will demonstrate how to use concepts from three theoretical approaches in the delivery of care.

Session Objectives
Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Explain what Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is and how it is alike and different from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
  2. Describe the basic principles and assumptions of DBT.
  3. Discuss the elements of full fidelity DBT.
  4. Explain how DBT is used in treating emotional dysregulation.
  5. Demonstrate the process of conducting an individual therapy session that includes a behavioral chain analysis and solution analysis.
