1007-17: "I am Not Sick, I Don't Need Help!": How LEAP Can Transform Your Psychopharmacology Practice

The purpose of this session is to expand the knowledge base of PMH APRNs regarding the persistent Anasognosia that effects people with Schizophrenia, and the down-stream effect on adherence to a treatment plan. 

Presenter: Xavier F. Amador, PhD

Session Objectives:

Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss research related to improving medication adherence for people with Schizophrenia or Bipolar disease.
  2. Discuss barriers to therapeutic alliance and strategies for overcoming them in collaborative decision making.
  3. Demonstrate the core and advanced components of the LEAP approach that strengthen collaborative psychopharmacologic nursing.
