2046-19:  Countertransference in Geriatric Psychiatry: What is Beneath the Stigma and How to Address It

This presentation examines sensitive topics that trigger providers when caring for the geropsychiatric population, including grief and loss, dependency and suicide. These issues are not addressed in nursing education and yet they impact potential providers negatively and deter pursuit as a subspecialty. Suggestions for interventions will be provided.
