The presentation will focus on the challenges of incorporating trauma informed and recovery practices into an acute  behavioral health inpatient setting, using trauma informed and DBT techniques. The topic will be presented through the eyes of the nursing leader and include case studies.

Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify ways to implement a trauma informed program at the bedside in an environment of declining resources.
  2. Discuss alternatives to traditional models of milieu therapy for acutely ill patients with psychiatric disorders.
  3. Analyze the organizational impact from a leadership perspective of implementing recovery based practices at the bedside.
