2033-17:  Modeling Intradisciplinary Team-Based Integrated Behavioral Health Care in Advance Practice Nursing Education

Innovative behavioral health courses for FNP, PNP, and PMHNP students were developed to prepare these providers to address the challenges of mental illness across their practice setting. Emphasis is placed on collaboration between primary care and psychiatric mental health NP students to provide appropriate treatment for mental health.

  1. Discuss imperative to prepare FNP, PNP, PMHNP students to deliver evidence-based mental health care according to their practice setting.
  2. Describe course content necessary to prepare FNP, PNP, PMHNP students to deliver patient centered care for mental health. 
  3. Describe innovative approaches to teach screening, management, referral, and coordination of care among varied practice disciplines.
