2027-16: Combat-related Post Traumatic Stress - Survivor Guilt in the 21st Century

This session looks at the history of Post Traumatic Stress and its triggers and treatments.  The presenter delves into how the influx of immigrants and integration of diverse populations may trigger PTSD in some veterans. It also looks at how encounters with citizens of foreign combat deployments may have precipitated rage and shame those with PTSD.

Session Objectives
Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Contrast two conflicting emotions that can result from unplanned but forced contact with countrymen of previous enemy combatants.
  2. Describe three examples of sudden encounters with countrymen of previous enemy combatants that can trigger Post Traumatic Stress-related symptoms.
  3. Identify three treatment options to specifically address conflicts related to unexpected encounters with countrymen of previous enemy combatants.
