The field of brain stimulation represents a therapeutic class that has shown safety and efficacy in patients who are refractory to standard treatments. We analyze evidence for a range of approaches, examine nursing-led research and advanced practice roles and the perspectives of students and faculty concerning brain stimulation learning opportunities.

Session Objectives
Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
1.  Describe the evidence base for: transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), magnetic seizure therapy (MST), deep-brain stimulation (DBS) and transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS).
2.  Examine nursing-led research as well as advanced practice roles in brain stimulation.
3.  Discuss integration of brain stimulation content and "hands on learning" into a PMHNP program from the perspective of students and faculty.
