1006-17: Early Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment of Pediatric Delirium

This session will enable the learner to improve both their knowledge and skills related to early assessment, detection and nursing care to patients with pediatric delirium.

Session Objectives:
Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria for pediatric delirium.
  2. Define core signs and symptoms of pediatric delirium.
  3. Describe etiology and risk factors for the development of pediatric delirium.
  4. Understand the pathophysiology of pediatric delirium.
  5. Discuss the differential diagnosis of pediatric delirium.
  6. Identify evidence-based screening tools utilized in the diagnosis of pediatric delirium.
  7. Identify pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment strategies of pediatric delirium.
